1- ¿Como conseguiste la idea para la Profecía de las Hermanas?
La semilla inicial de la historia procede de la leyenda bíblica de los Vigilantes, una legión de ángeles que se dice que han sido enviados a la Tierra para vigilar a la humanidad. En la leyenda, los ángeles se enamoraron de las mujeres mortales y fueron expulsados del cielo, después de lo cual se conoce como Almas Perdidas. Siempre he estado fascinada con la conexión de los hermanos. Tengo tres hermanastros, pero no hermanos completos. Es una misteriosa conexión. Proceder del mismo lugar exacto que otra persona - y más que nadie los gemelos. Pensé que sería un desafío la caída de este conflicto enorme con consecuencias apocalípticas para la humanidad en medio de estas dos personas que deberían, por todos los derechos, estar más cerca que cualquier humano. También fue un desafío desarrollar sus personajes a lo largo de estos arcos totalmente diferentes al que tienen en todo lo común a partir del ADN de su historia.
2 - La Profecía de las Hermanas ¿Por qué ese título?
¡En realidad no elegí ese título! Mi título original era INDIGO SKY, pero una cosa que muchas personas no se dan cuenta es que los títulos son cambiados por el editor para expresar mejor a los posibles lectores el contenido de la historia. En este caso, mi editor en EE.UU, Little Brown, consideró que la Profecía de las Hermanas, se sentía "grande" y que hablaba de la épica lucha entre hermanas que es el corazón de la historia.
3-¿Qué piensa de la literatura para adolescentes?
¡Esta es una pregunta difícil ! Amo la literatura para jóvenes, ya que se convierte en una parte tan importante de la gente que lee. Es un privilegio escribir el trabajo que tenga un lugar tan importante en la vida de los jóvenes. Al mismo tiempo, creo que estamos en un punto de inflexión en el género. Tanto ha comenzado a sentir derivados y repetitivos. Creo que, como escritores, es necesario seguir desafiarnos a nosotros mismos para contar historias únicas y que, como lectores, la necesidad de desafiar a vosotros mismos para tratar de ellos cuando lo hacemos.
4 - ¿Tiene algún proyecto futuro? ¿Puede darnos alguna información sobre ellos?
Siempre estoy trabajando en algo.
Mi próxima serie es muy, muy oscura fantasía contemporánea también se basa en la tradición bíblica antigua. Pienso en ello como The Dark Knight reúne Twilight - sin los vampiros. Estoy súper entusiasmada acerca de ello y he estado trabajando en la activación y desactivación desde 2007. También tengo otro gótico y series Steampunk, ambientada en Londres, esta vez, que estoy jugando con ... ¡Manténgase sintonizado!
5 - ¿La Profecía tiene una película? ¿Qué puede decirnos al respecto?
La profecía tiene un agente de cine que actualmente está trabajando en las investigaciones de cine, pero no puedo decir nada más allá de que en este momento ;)
6 - ¿Ha escrito algo antes de LPDLH, o algo publicado?
La profecía de las Hermanas fue mi libro quinto. Escribí 6-8 antes de la Profecía vendido a Little Brown. Tengo la esperanza de que parte de ese trabajo, finalmente, se publicará. Pero, honestamente, parte de ella, es mejor dejar como una experiencia de aprendizaje.
7 - ¿Cuando te gusta escribir?
En mi mundo perfecto, yo sería capaz de dormir 2-10 y escribir cuando siento que entre.Pero como soy una madre soltera de cuatro niños de edades entre 10 a 17 y eso no es muy práctico
En cambio, hago el trabajo de promoción (entrevistas, blogs, libros y la firma de envases para la caridad, etc.) En la mañana, mientras mis hijos están en la escuela. Entonces, trato de escribir durante un par de horas en la tarde y una vez más de cerca de 7-10 (aunque hago una pausa aquí para leer con mi hijo de diez años, antes de dormir) cuando me paro a tomar el té con mi hija de 15 años. Dejé de ver la televisión por completo cuando yo estaba revisando la Profecía con mi agente (antes de que se vendiera), y fue la mejor decisión que he tomado. Me la perdí por dos semanas, pero ahora tengo más tiempo para lo más importante y el cumplimiento de las cosas :)
8 - ¿Utiliza la música para escribir?
La música forma parte de mi vida y mi escritura. Puedo escuchar la música de películas, mientras escribo, porque si me escuchan palabras de otra persona (es decir, letras de canciones), mientras estoy escribiendo, que interfieren con la voz de mis personajes. La música de películas son en gran parte instrumental, por lo que elegir un puntaje o dos con la "sensación". Estoy tratando de crear en mi libro y escribir al tiempo que la completa. Con un libro de la serie de la Profecía, fue la puntuación de la película The Village. Libro Segundo fue la puntuación de El Señor de los Anillos, y el libro III fue una combinación de ambos. Eso te da una idea de lo que cada libro se "siente" como justo ahí.
9-¿Cómo afronta el futuro?
Trato de no pensar mucho en el futuro. Cada momento de la vida es un regalo, y nunca se sabe cuándo tiempo hay que disfrutarlo. Las cosas tienen una forma de trabajar a sí mismos si está siguiendo las pistas del universo y haciendo su parte por trabajar mucho, así que trato de trabajar duro y vivir en el momento con un profundo aprecio por todas mis bendiciones.
10 - ¿Qué pensaste cuando su libro fue aceptado para su publicación?
Bueno, en primer lugar a mi hija adolescente y yo hice lo que llamamos "el salto femenina", que básicamente significa que saltaba a gritar. Definitivamente fue uno de los momentos más mágicos de mi vida, y para ser honesto, todavía es mágico. Me siento muy afortunada de estar haciendo algo que me encanta tanto por la vida y tener el privilegio de compartir mis historias con el mundo.
11 - ¿Te gusta España?
Bueno, yo nunca he estado en España, pero me encantaría!!
Mi afición española, sin duda se encuentran entre los más entusiastas, cálido y amigable. Además, uno de mis escritores favoritos, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, es español y, como estoy seguro que tu sabes, establece sus libros en Barcelona. Me encantaría tener la oportunidad de venir a España, su cultura increíble ver de primera mano, y cumplir con todos mis fans en español

1 -How did you get the idea for The Prophecy of the Sisters?
The initial seed of the story came from the biblical legend of the Watchers, a legion of angels who were said to have been sent to Earth to watch over mankind. In the legend, the angels fell in love with mortal women and were banished from Heaven, after which they were referred to as the Lost Souls. I've always been fascinated with the sibling connection. I have three half-brothers, but no full siblings. It's such a mysterious connection - to come from the exact same place as someone else - and none more so than twins. I thought it would be a challenge to drop this enormous conflict with apocalyptic consequences for mankind in between these two people who should, by all rights, be closer than any two human beings. It was also a challenge to develop their characters along such totally different arcs when they have in common everything from DNA to their shared history.
2- The Profecy of the Sisters... why that title?
I actually didn't choose the title! My original title was INDIGO SKY, but one thing many people don't realize is that titles are often changed by the publisher to better express to potential readers the content of the story. In this case, my US publisher, Little Brown, felt that PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS, felt "big" and that it spoke to the epic struggle between siblings that is the heart of the story.
3-What do you think about Young Adult literature?
This is a tough question right now! I LOVE Young Adult literature because it becomes such an important part of the people who read it. It's a privilege to write work that takes such an important place in the lives of young people. At the same time, I think we're at a turning point in the genre. So much has started to feel derivative and repetitive. I think we, as writers, need to continue to challenge ourselves to tell unique stories and you, as readers, need to challenge yourselves to try them when we do!
4- Do you have any future projects? Can you give us some information about them?
I'm always working on something! My next series is a very, very dark contemporary fantasy also based on ancient biblical lore. I think of it as The Dark Knight meets Twilight - without the vampires! I'm super excited about it and have been working on it on and off since 2007. I also have another Gothic/Steampunk series, set in London this time, that I'm playing with... Stay tuned!
5- The Profecy of the Sisters have a movie? What can you tell us about it?
Prophecy does have a film agent that is currently working on film inquiries, but I can't say anything beyond that at this point! ;)
6- Have you written anything before TPOTS, or published something?
Prophecy of the Sisters was my fifth finished book. I wrote 6-8 hours a day, nearly every day, for two-and-a-half years before Prophecy sold to Little Brown. I still hope that some of that work will, eventually, be published. But, honestly, some of it is better left as a learning experience!
7- When do you like to write?
In my perfect world, I'd be able to sleep from 2am to 10 am and write whenever I feel like it in between! But because I'm a single mother to four children ages 10 - 17, that's not very practical! Instead, I do promotional work (interviews, blogging, signing and packaging books for charity, ect.) in the morning while my kids are at school. Then I try to write for a couple of hours in the late afternoon and again from about 7pm to 10pm (though I take a break here to read with my ten-year-old before bed) when I stop to have tea with my fifteen-year-old daughter. I stopped watching TV entirely when I was revising Prophecy with my agent (before it sold), and it was the best decision I ever made. I missed it for about two weeks, but now I have more time for more important and fulfilling things!
8- Do you use music for inspiration when writing?
Music is a HUGE part of my life and my writing. I listen to film scores while I write, because if I listen to someone else's words (i.e. lyrics) while I'm writing, they interfere with the voice of my characters. Film scores are largely instrumental, so I choose a score or two with the "feel" I'm trying to create in my book and write to that the entire time. With book one of the Prophecy series, it was the score from the movie The Village. Book Two was the scores from The Lord of the Rings series, and book three was a combination of both. That gives you an idea what each book will "feel" like right there!
9-How do you face the future?
I try not to think too hard about the future. Every moment of life is a gift, and you just never know how long you have to enjoy it. Things have a way of working themselves out if you're following the clues of the universe and doing your part by working hard, so I try to work hard and live in the moment with a deep appreciate for all my blessings.
10- What did you think when your book was accepted for publishing?
Well, first my teenage daughter and I did what we call "the girly jump", which basically means we jumped up and down screaming! It was DEFINITELY one of the most magical moments of my life, and to be honest, it's STILL magical. I feel so blessed to be doing something I love so much for a living and to have the privilege of sharing my stories with the world.
11- Do you like Spain?
Well, I've never been to Spain, but I would LOVE to (hint, hint)!! My Spanish fans definitely rank among the most enthusiastic, warm, and friendly. Plus, one of my all-time favorite writers, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, is Spanish and, as I'm sure you know, sets his books in Barcelona. I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to come to Spain, see your incredible culture first-hand, and meet all my Spanish fans!
