Possible activities / actividades posibles

You could sit on your chair and pick over the language
as is it were a bowl of peas.
A lot of people do that.
It might be instructive.
You don't even need the chair,
you could juggle plates of air.
You could poke sitcks through the chain-link fence
at your brain, which you keep locked up in there,
which crouches and sulks like and old tortoise,
and glares out at you, sluggish and eyeless.
You could tease it that away,
make it blunder and think,
an emit a croaking sound
you could call truth.
A harmless activity,
sort of like knitting,
until you go too far with it
ant they out the nooses and matches.

Podrías sentarte en tu silla y rebuscar en el lenguaje
como si fuera un bol de guisantes.
Mucha gente lo hace.
Podría ser instructivo.
No necesitas ni siquiera silla,
con el aire harías juegos malabares.
Podrías hurgar con un palo en la alambrada
de tu cerebro, ese que guardas encerrado arriba,
que se agazapa malhumorado como una vieja tortuga
y te observa, aletargado y ciego. Podrías provocarlo de esta forma, hacer que se equivoque y piense, y que emita un graznido que llamarías verdad. Una actividad inofensiva, como hacer punto, hasta que llegas demasiado lejos
y otros sacan sogas y cerillas.
