I am starting to get fed up with the declarations of utmost shamelessness that the rulers of the Catholic Church keep pronouncing every other day regarding the paedophilia scandal inside it. Instead of facing their problems clearly and with honesty, they simply get around them while spraying over us, decent citizens, the guilt over their ill behaviour. The problem is that they don't realise this is the 21st century and the Middle Ages are gone for good. We CAN speak and we CAN tell them: "You're liars and you know it".
Me estoy empezando a cansar de las declaraciones que con suma desfachatez está haciendo la jerarquía de la Iglesia Católica al respecto de los escándalos sobre pedofilia en su seno. En lugar de enfrentarse a sus problemas con claridad y honestidad, se esfuerzan en sortearlos dándole la vuelta al calcetín y repartiendo sobre nosotros, ciudadanos decentes, la culpa de su comportamiento enfermizo. El problema es que no se dan cuenta de que estamos en el siglo XXI y la Edad Media ya acabó hace tiempo. Ahora sí podemos hablar y les podemos decir: "sois unos mentirosos, y lo sabéis".
I do get angry when I hear things like Cardinal Bertone's words, not because I feel offended, but because there's still too many narrow-minded people who are unable to adopt a critical approach to those words and simply believe them, and that makes this group a dangerous one. The fact that such words do influence a lot of people makes it all more serious. It's not me uttering a "boutade", it's the second in rank in the Catholic Church! And for that he should face responsibility if discrimination against a specific social group occurs. The open-minded, on the contrary, will always feel free to speak out against all the crap that the Vatican crew is trying to spread all over, in an attempt to regain the power over a population that, to their disgrace, is starting to turn their backs on them.
Por supuesto que me enfada escuchar cosas como las que ha dicho el Cardenal Bertone, pero no porque me ofendan, sino porque todavía hay mucha gente de mente muy estrecha que es incapaz de adoptar una actitud crítica ante esas palabras y simplemente las cree, lo que convierte a esta gente en un grupo muy peligroso. El hecho de que tales palabras influyan en tanta gente las hace todavía más graves. No soy yo el que ha soltado una "boutade", sino ¡la segunda autoridad de la Iglesia Católica! Y por ello debería acarrear con la responsabilidad de cualquier discriminación hacia un determinado grupo social que pueda darse en el futuro. Los que tenemos una mentalidad abierta, por el contrario, siempre nos sentiremos libres de denunciar toda la mierda que la tripulación vaticana está intentando esparcir, en su intento de retomar un poder sobre la población que, para su vergüenza, está empezando a darle la espalda.
So, let them hear what we have to say to them: "only someone who's morally superior can possibly and honestly deserve to rule my world". The good thing is that we can say that in a quiet voice, while playing guitar on a beach or on a couch, looking at our beloved one's eyes and kissing the lips that we want to kiss.
