Hace unos días comencé a trabajar en un retrato de la tripulación del Apolo XI, formada por Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin y Michael Collins. Después de haber comenzado con el dibujo realista a lápiz hace un mes, este trabajo es el más complicado de todos porque quiero hacerlo con lápices de colores para representar la textura rugosa de la superficie lunar y los tres rostros de los astronautas.
A few days ago I started to work on a portrait of the crew of Apollo 11, formed by Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins. After starting with realistic pencil drawing a mong ago, this one is the most difficult work I have faced because I want to finish it with colored pencils to cast the rough surface of the Moon and the three portraits of the astronauts.

Lo más difícil ha sido la cara de Neil Armstrong, a la cual tuve que dibujar 6 veces hasta poder lograr un buen acabado. La idea original -y disparatada- era poner a las 6 misiones Apolo que llegaron a la Luna con todas las tripulaciones (12 astronautas) posando juntos y con poses inventadas. Pero dado que ello llevaría demasiado tiempo, he optado por simplificar las cosas.
Así que pronto estaré subiendo el trabajo terminado.
The hardest part has been the face of Neil Armstrong, which I had to draw 6 times before I could get it right. The original -and insane- idea was to put all six Apollo missions which made it to the Moon with all the crews (12 astronauts) together and with some made-up postures. But given that it would take too long, I decided to make things easier.
So, soon I'll be posting the finished work.
